About this piece
Fascination with Pirates of the Caribbean is still strong in me. After watching the third part for the fourth time, this time on DVD, I've come up with a crazy idea of soldering a large key to Davy Jones' chest, in which he has put his heart (btw, Jason Cairns makes gorgeous antiqued sterling keys as pendants). Then I thought that the key needs the chest. I wanted to make a small chest that still could be opened and closed to treasure something inside. This tiny thing (measuring 1.2'' by 1.2'' by 0.8'') was made in 4 days. I have adorned it with various hand-crafted ornaments, a filigree net but also with topaz and labradorite stones. The chest opens and closes and there's a heart of red chalcedony inside of it. The whole piece is adorned with a huge labradorite marquise and topaz briolette I have received from a very special person. The necklace was made in sterling and fine silver and oxidised.It will be really difficult for me to part with this piece - I've put all of my heart into it, almost literally ;)
