Kazoku means "family" in Japanese. This pendant is a tale about a mother, a father and their child.

The child is a new being - still waiting to be formed and developed, to grow. Its shape is undefined, a bit strange but it glows with innocence and purity - although it is still held within its shell, you can see how magnificent it's going to be.
The child is the pearl.
It is placed safely between the parents - held in a warm embrace. It sometimes stands in between them but it is also the most beautiful and perfect connection they have.

The mother is perceived as round and soft - gentle, loving and forgiving. The link between her and the child is firm but allows for some movement, lets the child find its own direction. The small dot near the link is the mother's heart - she holds the child with it and in it and that is how it will always be.

The father is the sharp triangle with a rough surface. His role is to protect the family with all the strength and wisdom he has. The connection between him and his child is rigid, sometimes hard but it is also safe and reliable. He is the lens the child will see the world through for many years to come.

The pendant also reminds me of an anchor - this is what family should be for all of us...

Oxidised and polished fine and sterling silver.
Biva pearl.

The pendant is 5cm long and 2cm wide - it's very lightweight.
The chain is 41cm long + 10cm of extension.
